Hi! My name is Mr. Jacobsen but please call me Mr. J. This 2025-2026 school year will be my tenth year teaching and my sixth year with EAHS.
I am also the school's AMC Math competition Team Advisor, miniTHON co-coordinator, and Distance Coach for the Winter and Spring Track Teams.
In Algebra this year, we are going to learn how to create linear equations, how to analyze statistics, how to compare and contrast different sets of data and introduce ourselves to new ways of reducing big numbers and complex equations.
For our brave Calculus adventurers, the world around us will become predictable and easier to analyze as we use the shortcuts that Calculus provides to make more accurate predictions than Algebra ever could.
Math can be a difficult class; let's be honest. However, Math can be exciting in that it allows you for the first time ever to make predictions about the future if you are able to find an equation that represents what you are working with. It also lets you represent information in new ways that we couldn't beforehand.
Below, you can find some generic resources to help you with our class this year.
